Ahoy! Join the Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra on Maritime Day for a lively concert of classical seafaring tunes. Where better to gather than the Melville Gallery in South Street Seaport, a one-of-a-kind Lower Manhattan building of old brick and exposed wooden beams dating from 1868. We'll throw open the doors and let the good old-fashioned nautical music fill the historic maritime space and drift out over the cobblestones!

April 14, 2019: KCO's Jumping Mouse
Experience the world premiere of KCO Music Director Gary S. Fagin’s delightful one-act opera for children. Based on a Native American myth, the allegory follows the courageous journey of Jumping Mouse as she interacts with other animals and perseveres through challenges in pursuit of her dreams. Wonderfully engaging family entertainment, with four singers and an ensemble of Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra musicians, Jumping Mouse is a beautiful musical parable of inspiration, altruism and transformation.
March 10, 2019: KCO's WONDER WOMEN OF CLASSICAL MUSIC!

An all-female ensemble from the KCO celebrates Women’s History Month with a performance showcasing great classical and contemporary female composers. Led by KCO concertmaster Belinda Whitney and second violinist Joyce Hamman, the ensemble will prominently feature works by women composers, such as Fanny Mendelssohn, Clara Schumann, Amy Beach, Florence Price (the first African-American woman to have a composition played by a major orchestra), and exciting contemporary composers like Jessie Montgomery and Mercedes Zavalas.

In a special kick-off to our 11th season, the Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra is pleased to announce an exclusive performance of “John Adams in Amsterdam: A Song for Abigail,” music by KCO Music Director Gary S. Fagin, libretto by Terry Quinn, on the evening of Monday, February 11, 2019, at the famed Knickerbocker Club.
This year marks the 48th anniversary of New Jersey Ballet’s Nutcracker, making it the longest running original professional production in the state. The production debuted in Millburn in 1971 with international star of New York City Ballet Edward Villella as the Cavalier. Since then, the company has given approximately 800 performances in theatres throughout New Jersey, with more than 5,000 dancers and children, and over a million viewers. Many in the audience who saw the production as children now bring their own children and grandchildren to see this cherished holiday tradition.

Museum of Jewish Heritage Weill: Zaubernacht
An enchanting work about children whose toys come to life as they dream, Zaubernacht is Kurt Weill's first work for the stage, published in 1922. This production by the KCO at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Battery Park City will be the first since Weill's long-lost, original orchestration for Zaubernacht was rediscovered.
