And Bold to Fall Withal

Libretto by Gary S. Fagin

For tenor and chamber orchestra (15:00)

"And Bold To Fall Withal (Henry Hudson in the New World),"; commissioned by the Francis Goelet Charitable Lead Trusts, celebrates the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson's sail into New York Harbor. The title is taken from an entry in first-mate Robert Jouet's journal on the day Henry Hudson's Halve Moen (Half Moon) sailed up the (now Hudson) River for the first time, "The land is very pleasant and high, and bold to fall withal."
